To promote Public Health movement in Bangladesh and create a suitable atmosphere for healthful living and thereby promote the growth and development of a healthier nation, Public Health Association of Bangladesh was formed.
Dr. Ahmed is a renowned senior public health and management professional with a strong professional experiences in strategic planning, program design, implementation, partnership & capacity building, resource mobilization and policy advocacy with Government, NGOs/CSOs, private sectors. He is working over 30 years in national and international settings with international NGOs, UN Agencies, Government, private sector & leading CSO both in Bangladesh and international assignments with varieties of cross-cultural settings in South and Central Asia. He has provided leadership in health sector including Immunization, maternal, child health & new-born health (MNCH), Sexual & Reproductive health, Family Planning, HIV/AIDS, Nutrition program & utilization of Digital Health services. He has proven experiences in implementing nationawide immunization, digital health services, program development, performence based framework, fund raising & strengthening health systems.
Dr. Ahmad is a dedicated, results-driven health & development professional, has led numerous projects/programs at national and international levels. Dr. Ahmad’s extensive experiences include the guiding and oversight of various health sector programs with multi-lateral and bilateral donors including USAID, Global Fund, DFID, The Gates Foundation, UN agencies/WHO, World Bank, Gavi, private donors. In those capacities, Dr. Ahmed has successfully managed large and complex multi-year health sector programs for sustainable outcomes through public-private partnership. Dr. Ahmad’s specific country project management and technical Assistance (TA) include Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan and Uzbekistan and some African nations as well.
He supervise National Digital Health Services- Shastho Batayon 16263 with Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and key partners and donors. It is the largest eHealth platform for citizen services in Bangladesh. Beside this, he is engaged in advocacy for policy change in designing and promoting the Digital Health Strategy, NCDs, Tobacco control movement, COVID 19 responses and services linking withe existing health systems for creating impact.
He possesses excellent interpersonal communication and negotiation skills and has the ability to develop and maintain mutually beneficial internal and external relationships. He has proven ability to navigate large and complex diplomatic challenges to the satisfaction of donors, government and organizations. He is a member of national & global health forums & currently serving as Chair of GAVI CSO SC.
